Day 27, 28 and 29 of 31 Days of Geocaching

On the 27th my Bride and I went over to Burke Lake and found the Burke Lake GeoCourse – Base Jump (GC2J4GV), today was a long day (for everyone in the family) as I didn’t get home from work until late.  We then went and visited our oldest at the Dollar Tree to make sure she was ok after having dental work done earlier.

On the 28th my Bride and I went back to Burke Lake and found Burke Lake Park (GC175), then it was off to the Old Dominion District Committee Meeting (Boy Scouts).

On the 29th, I went back to Burke Lake and found Burke Lake GeoCourse – Tree Legs (GC2H4YQ).  The tree that I found the cache in holds water and the cache was sitting in the thick muddy goo. Luckily the log was dry. I tried to put it back in such a way that it wasn’t sitting in the goo and where it should have been in the first place.

Two more days to finish this challenge, and wouldn’t you know it I have been thrown a curve ball.  My Bride and I are leaving soon to Michigan to see my folks.  I’ve downloaded caches that are near their home.  I just need to remember to take the time to do a cache on each of the next two days.

It is getting challenging only because school is starting and scout meetings are starting.  Found Sadie’s Stash (GC290T6) with my Bride after following a dog that was going to the dog park.

Day 25 of 31 Days of Geocaching

Back home and found Kaitlyn’s Easter Kache (GC2TZFK) with my bride.  Keeping my streak alive.

Day 19-24 of 31 Days of Geocaching

For Days 19-24 I was in St. Louis for work (a training session).  It was a challenge because I could only cache before – early morning, or in the evening if I wasn’t doing class work.  In the end I was able to find a cache each day keeping my streak alive.

Day 19 – Leap Around STL Day 1: Sculpted Walls (GC3B5FK) 

Day 20 – TREEmendous #10 (GC2YA77) a very easy cache at the Arch.

Day 21 – Brewhaha #3 (GC4A8VX) found with my LVA Table 4 friends.  They had never gone Geocaching.  The food was good.

Day 22 – Treemendous #11 (GC2YA83) another easy cache at the Arch.  I needed to come back and sign the log because I left my room without a pen. I got my own pen came right back and then had to dance around the sprinklers. 

Day 23 – 31 days of August: Downtown Park (GC4JGV0) and Brewhaha #2 (GC4BDEV)

Day 24 – Heads Up is Good Luck (GC45Y8R).  Just as the description stated this one made my GPS go nuts.  It took me a couple of days to find this geocache.  The first day I was in the parking lot.  The second day I was across the street on the sidewalk.  The third day I found two triangles.  The second one had a penny, but I could not find a log to sign.  The fourth day I went back and dug a little and found the log.

Day 14-18 of 31 Days of Geocaching In August

Day 14 – Break From Liver (GCZNAN).  Found with Bugabo and my Bride.

Day 15 – Buffalo Tree  (GC3Y4EZ) and Shore Thing (GC2W7PY)  Found these with my Bride, keeping the streak alive.  With a Shore Thing we were worried it wasn’t the correct cache since I couldn’t open it. So we took it home opened it with pliers. Took out the wet soaked log. Sprayed it with WD 40. Dried everything. Put in a new log. And then went back and put it where we found it. Hopefully it will open for the next person without having to get pliers and hopefully it doesn’t leak and soak the log.

Day 16 – Riley’s EXTREME STEALTH Cache (GC2502H).  Bugabo had attempted this one earlier in the week but didn’t know what she was looking for.  So, I went back with her and we found the cache.

Day 17 – Posted (GC1ART5) was found with Bugabo, her older sister and friend after spending a day at Kings Dominion.  It was a late night (11:30pm) find.

Day 18 – Fitness Trail #2 (GC36CEF) found with my Bride.  I looked were I thought it was, but did not see it.  Then I was ready to start digging and spotted it.  I just didn’t look close enough.

Day 13 of 31 Days of Geocaching

Today we stayed close to home.  Tried to find GC2568A “Riley’s (not so) Spooky Cache” and my Bride and I could not find it.  We looked around the stairs and off to both sides of the stair.  It hasn’t been found in awhile, so not sure if it still there.  We then went down the road to GC29JXK “The Wally Cache”.  It took a couple of minutes because I was looking up in trees and then realized that the rock that was described in the logs was under the bus shelter.

Went back to Burke Lake and found GC7462 “On the (not so) beaten track” with my Bride and Bugabo.

I then went and actually found two more caches but did not log them in.  They are going to be my “safe” caches in case I need something quick so I can complete the 31 Days of Geocaching.

Day 11 of 31 Days of Geocaching

Today my Bride and Bugabo went to Burke Lake and I found “Burke Lake GeoCourse – Good Night Tree 2”  My streak continues.

Day 10 of 31 days of Geocaching

Day 10 of 31 days of Geocaching.  With the finds in Myrtle Beach and no the 31 days of Geocaching challenge for the month of August I am now on a streak with 14 consecutive days with finds.  Today started out with two DNFs.  The Horsepen Hidey Hole and The Climb.  Look all around at both those locations with no luck.  We (my Bride and I) then went to another cache GC2RGM* “The King of Burgers” and found that with ease.

After finding The King of Burgers we then went to the Burger King and ordered an Oreo Shake.  We then walked from the Burger King (with our shakes) to GC33MD1 “A whole ‘nother year”.  This was a good find.

Day 9 of 31 Days of Geocaching

My Bride and I found Riley’s Stumped.  I should learn to remember to reread the titles of caches.  It just might make life easier.

 

Bugabo went out with trexM8s to cache. (I stayed home to update my blog).

I also had our oldest work on some puzzles.  One was math which she is very good at.
